Six Weeks of Compassion 2018 July 29th – September 2nd
Every summer, the Compton Heights Christian Church community explores ways to carry out our mission of sharing the love of Jesus Christ in the world. This year we will explore:
- World-wide disaster response through Week of Compassion and Church World Service
- Global assistance and development through Week of Compassion
- Refugee assistance through Church World Service
- Global ministry in India at Family Village Farm and King’s Matriculation School
- Mission on South Grand through Isaiah 58 Ministries
Offerings: Money will be received for Week of Compassion, and food and goods for Isaiah 58 Ministries. We will collect items for and assemble Church World Service kits, 14 school kits and 2 cleanup buckets.
Supplies needed for each CWS School Kits, details and sizes are important:
- 1 pair of blunt metal scissors
- 1 hand-held pencil sharpener
- 1 large eraser (no pencil caps)
- 3 70-count spiral or bound notebooks totaling 210 pages (No looseleaf paper)
- 1 12-inch, 30 cm ruler
- 6 new pencils with erasers, unsharpened
- 1 box 0f 24 count crayons (24 count only)
Supplies needed for each CWS Clean up bucket, details and sizes are important:
- 1 5 gallon bucket with resealable lid
- 1 bottle of liquid household cleaner mixable with water 12-16 oz (ex. Mr. Clean, Lysol)
- 1 Non-Aerosol insect repellent 6-9 oz.
- 1 100-ft clothesline or 2 50-ft clothesline
- 1 pair of work gloves with leather palm or all leather
- 1 50-oz or 2-25 oz liquid laundry detergent
- 18 reusable wipes such as Easy Wipes
- 7 sponges, including 1 large
- 1 scrub brush, plastic or wooden
- 48-50 clothespins
- 5 dust masks
- 1 liquid Disinfectant dish soap 16-18 oz
- 4 scouring pads
- 24-48 Heavy Duty 30-45 gallon trash bags
Our children and youth will assemble the kits during Sunday School on September 9th and we will dedicate our gifts later that day in worship.
