Global Ministries Co-worker joins us for worship, Sunday, May 16th
Sunday, May 16th, Global Ministries Co-Worker, Elena Huegel, will join us in worship and afterward to share our ministry in Chiapas Mexico.
Elena is a teacher, storyteller, poet, and artist. As founder and chaplain of the Shalom Center, a peace building, spiritual development, and environmental education camp in central Chile. She uses a variety of imaginative teaching methods to create a context for cultivating resilience, transformation and healing. Elena has over 20 years of experience as a missionary with Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ, and in her current assignment as co-founder and coordinator of the Roots in the Ruins: Hope in Trauma project, she has written materials and co-facilitated courses and workshops in Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Elena holds a BA from Houston Baptist University and a MA in Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University.
